Who's out?

by ajnspencer @ 18/07/07 - 10:19:30

There's been a little consternation around members of the Doctor Who fraternity that Russell T. Davis' alleged departure might lead to the whole thing coming to an end...

Obviously Stephen Moffat who writes for the show at the moment believes somewhat differently if this comment to Sci-Fi Wire is anything to go by ;)

"I know that there's tremendous anxiety among Doctor Who fans about the future of Doctor Who. Here's an answer that people should listen to. No broadcaster lets go of a show like Doctor Who. They'd have to be out of their fucking minds. I mean, it's not going away. Look, they turned it to shit and took it off for 15 years, and that didn't kill it. I mean, what's going to kill it now? Success?"

Hmm, not a denial but...

Oh dear, it's all going downhill fast

Nooo.....Stop talking like this!

Btw. When is my name going to appear with the crew on this blog?! ;)

RTD is leaving? Oh well.

They would be stupid to not let it go on for at least 6-7 seasons, if not longer. There are loads of good DW writers - and I am sure they could come up with just as good ideas as RTD.

I also hear a lot of rumours surrounding DW all the time, 99% of them are usually false!

It's too lucrative for the BBC to let go of yet, though - especially with sci fi US and UKTV Gold on the payroll.

Yeah, a producer leaving doesn't necessarily screw it over.

I dont realy think that the BBC could axe Doctor who now and not be faced with public out cry. The popularity of the show now is even greater than it was the last time it was axed, and in the end the public got what they wanted. RTD walking away from the show wont harm it, there are still a grat team of writers, so i wont start to show concern yet. (bites nails)...
