From Rome to Marvel!

by ajnspencer @ 23/07/07 - 20:41:29

Hmm, so it seems that one of the blokes from Nick's favourite TV show is becoming the latest actor to play potentially the most feebly portrayed of all Marvel Superheroes...

Ray Steven who is THIS person...

...who played Titus Pullo in the Beeb series Rome and is going to become the third bloke to play The Punisher.

Now I'm proud to have never seen the quite, quite naff Dolph Lundgren version and didn't actually mind the 2004 version.

The problem was he was a bit... nice and I fear this movie will probably go the same route, you see filmgoers, especially American filmgoers like their goodies and baddies to be well defined.

Now The Punisher doesn't really fit that, although he does good things he is, I think it's fair to say, a bastard - in fact a torturing, kidnapping, murdering little bastard.

I get the feeling that wouldn't suit Hollywood though...

Who's out?

by ajnspencer @ 18/07/07 - 10:19:30

There's been a little consternation around members of the Doctor Who fraternity that Russell T. Davis' alleged departure might lead to the whole thing coming to an end...

Obviously Stephen Moffat who writes for the show at the moment believes somewhat differently if this comment to Sci-Fi Wire is anything to go by ;)

"I know that there's tremendous anxiety among Doctor Who fans about the future of Doctor Who. Here's an answer that people should listen to. No broadcaster lets go of a show like Doctor Who. They'd have to be out of their fucking minds. I mean, it's not going away. Look, they turned it to shit and took it off for 15 years, and that didn't kill it. I mean, what's going to kill it now? Success?"

Hmm, not a denial but...

The singer has been cast as Astrid, a waitress on the Titanic, in the show's Titantic-themed Christmas special, 'Voyage of the Damned'.

The dramatic episode follows on from the cliffhanger ending of series three where viewers witnessed The Titanic crash through the Tardis walls.

"Kylie is said to be "thrilled" at being asked to join the cast for a special appearance and Doctor Who executive producer and head writer Russell T Davies confirmed: "We are delighted that Kylie Minogue will be joining the Doctor.

"Doctor Who Christmas specials are always a joy and we feel very confident that this will be the most ambitious and best Christmas episode yet."

Caherine Tate is new assistant for Series 4 (BBC confirmed)

by GilraenH @ 04/07/07 - 20:12:32

Catherine Tate is heading back to the Tardis as the Doctor's new assistant.

The comedian is set to return to her role as runaway bride Donna, from last year's Christmas special, for the whole of the fourth series.

We last saw her character turning down the Doctor's offer to travel with him, but it looks like she's reconsidered.

She'll be joined by Freema Agyeman, as Martha Jones, halfway though the 13-week run, which is due to hit our screens next spring.

Hope Tennant stays on for all of Season 4 too.
