Primeval : a review of sorts

by cj592 @ 24/02/07 - 11:55:42

Primeval a 6 part scifi series for early Saturday evenings on ITV. So far we have had two episodes with the third showing tonight. But will it be worth the millions that was spent on it?
The premise: A team of scientists investigate sightings of dinosaurs in an around the world (and not just wales which makes a change). They find that the creatures are coming through fractures in time
So far we have been inroduced to the cast, the main character Nick Cutter who is mourning the loss of his wife except that e now believes that she is running around popping in and out of these fractures. If she really loved him she would have said hello instead of just hanging around in the shadows watching him suffer! So obviously there is plot development there.
The best character for me is Abby who is now reaching for the stars since her time in SClub7 (Did you recognise her?) She certainly has made a better career move than Jo did :DD
Then there are some irritating characters that I haven't got to like yet- but there is still time.
Some of the CGI is good. I did enjoy the battle with the huge centipede at the end of the second episode.
SO on the whole there is plenty of room for Character development, which is needed (Although how they are going to do it in a six episode series I dont know). I like the idea of the show but I think it is quite limitting if they want longevity. "And now in series three, the team battle more dinosaurs..."
But worth watching.
Score 7/10
