Comic book movies coming soon...

by ajnspencer @ 10/07/06 - 20:45:16

Had to admit some excitement when I saw this on Sci-Fi Online...

In an interview with iF Magazine Avi Arad, an independent producer at Marvel Comics, revealed that he plans to get a new Hulk movie off the ground.

"It’s a 'do-over,'" said Arad. "I loved the Hulk movie. It was just a different approach, and it wasn't exactly the comic. We want to be much closer to the comic. It's what we would rather do. A lot of people are looking forward to the comic-book version of the Hulk. That's the one we are making, and I think it will be incredibly satisfying. It will be big and awesome and a big ride."

Arad also revealed that both a Thor and Black Panther movie are also in the early stages of development. He also said: "We've got a new Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon; it's going to be based on the comics. We're going to do another Sony Spider-Man cartoon. We are probably going to do an Iron Man cartoon after the movie."

It's sad to admit but I'm a huge fan of comic book movies, you only have to say the words "marvel entertainments" in a movie to get me to watch it and, more than likely, get the DVD too...

So, here's a little question, what comic book superhero would you like to see in movie form?

It's not Marvel but I do wonder what they could do with Dan Dare...

Iloved the Dan Dare CGI cartoon they did last year. (Yes I am about 12 at hears)

Hehe, don;t worry, somewhere I've still got a lot of old Eagle comics :))

Problem is they wouldn't be worth much, I didn't treat them well :D

I bought them too, but my mum threw them away as she said they were demonic. Thats true!

Hehe, they were good demonic though :))

They went downhill with the 90s relaunch, all I can remember is this strange collection of skateboarding kids...

What About Captain America?

Have you ever seen the camp movies of that, I think it was the early 90s was the worst and some in the 70s... :-/

Although I do have very good news for you, a Hollywood Captain America movie is actually in the pipeline! Think the latest release date is 2009 though...

I'm looking forward to that one, I do wonder if it's taken a while because of a worry about the exaggerated nationalism meaning it wouldn't sell well in other countries.

As long as they start with the Second world War, with Ricky and the Red Skull

You know they'll "modern" it up... :-/

Probly find Cap after a war in an obviously un-named dry desert country full of oil and terrorists... ;)

Used to love the Beano, I walked into a metal post once 'cos I was reading it while walking home from the newsagent. D'oh/

:))

I preferred it to the Dandy, only got that cause I'd read too fast and finish them all otherwise :))

i'd be interested in a remake of Barbarella if they could find the right actress, though sequels are seldom anywhere near as good as the originals.
